SweepStar Success Story: From SweepStar to Teacher

Meet Nkosinesisa Maphosa

Nkosinesisa is a 34-year-old teacher and a devoted mother of an 8-year-old son from Gauteng, Johannesburg.

Nkosinesisa heard about the SweepSouth platform through a family member and applied for a domestic worker position in August 2019. For one year Nkosinesisa worked as a domestic worker to provide for herself and her son. While working as a SweepStar, Nkosinesisa also studied part-time to become a teacher.

Nkosinesisa began studying to better understand her son, and the more she learned, the more she fell in love with teaching – the idea of shaping minds became her passion. She enjoyed having young children look up to her for guidance, love and education. This changed her perspective on life and inspired her to pursue her dream. Nkosinesisa’s passion and dedication paved the way for her future career, allowing her to become the best caregiver she could be.

Today, Nkosinesisa is living her dream. She is not only a teacher but also a caregiver, impacting the lives of young learners every day. Her journey from SweepStar to teacher is a testament to her determination, hard work, and passion for education. At SweepSouth, we are proud to have been part of her journey and to have witnessed her incredible transformation.

Here’s to Nkosinesisa, and a decade of dreams!
